About Ramón Bilbao:

Ramón Bilbao Murga, the pioneer that founded Ramón Bilbao winery, was a dreamer and an explorer. The idea of travelling the world transporting bottles of wine possessed him and became a lifelong pursuit.

Since 1924, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao has grown, changed and developed under the guidance of Chief Winemaker, Rodolfo Bastida. The winery is now the number one Rioja in the Spanish on trade, and is widely considered one of the country’s most innovative producers. This year the winery was named one of the '50 Most Admired Wine Brands by Drinks International'.

Based in Haro but with wineries in Rueda and in Rias Baixas, Ramón Bilbao produces modern wines which express the unique terroirs where they are made.

Here are some of the wines you can expect to taste this Wednesday:

100% Tempranillo, lively and fruity. A ruby red wine with notes of black grape, matured in oak barrels. Long in mouth, full-bodied and showing terroir.

To be paired with beef, smoked food and soft cheeses.

Maroon, with the aroma of fresh, dark fruits like blackberries, and liquorice with sweet tones of nutmeg. Intense in mouth. 100% Tempranillo to accompany cold meats and mild cheeses, white meats and blue fish.

Pale salmon in colour, showing citrus fruits, orange peel and white flowers. Fresh and light in mouth. Modern and casual, pairing well with appetisers and cold dishes like white asparagus, seafood salad and beef carpaccio.

Greenish-yellow with hints of cut grass, citrus fruits, and exotic fruits like lychee in nose. In mouth, it is fresh and balanced.

An ideal accompaniment for fish, seafood, sushi, and steamed vegetables.

A greenish-yellow, clean, bright wine with hints of jasmine, aniseed, and white and citrus fruits. In mouth, it is fresh, acidic and lingering.

It pairs well with steamed vegetables, salads, cheeses and white meats.
